As a small business owner it is very sad when my path crosses other small companies that don’t share the same sense of pride, value and integrity that I strive to maintain. Sometimes alarm bells sound and we ignore them to our regret.
I agreed to work on a small pool house project with the Sullivan Construction Company LLC of Fairfield Connecticut. They had taken over the project from another contractor (bad sign number one) and they needed a concrete floor to be poured and polished.
The project was a nightmare from the start. I should had heeded the warning signs and cut my losses. I didn’t and regret it. I won’t go into details here but the end result was a total refusal to make good on their promises. Steve and Ken Sullivan refused to pay and don’t return my calls or answer my emails.
I should have insisted on a formal contract and advanced payment. Next time!
