Benefits of HP Spartacote’s Polyaspartic Floor Coatings
Epoxy and urethane coatings have traditionally been used for industrial floors. Over the past 10 years, polyaspartic coatings have become a popular alternative because they can be applied quickly and the floor can be used the next day. Polyaspartic finishes offer better substrate adhesion and durability and have high chemical and stain resistance.
At Elite Concrete Systems, we use polyaspartic coatings made by HP Spartacote on many of our concrete flooring projects. These coatings provide a durable layer of protection and offer more versatility than other types of concrete floor coatings.
HP Spartacote’s polyaspartic coatings are extremely durable and UV-resistant. They have excellent impact and abrasion resistance properties. The coatings can resist damage from gasoline, oil, grease, and industrial chemicals.
Polyaspartic coatings can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications. They are a popular choice for retail businesses, parking decks, stadiums, food service businesses, shops, manufacturers, fire stations, aviation hangars, warehouses, hospitals and clinics, animal facilities, educational institutions, and residential garages.
HP Spartacote’s coatings can be customized for a variety of applications to create an attractive and durable floor. The coatings have been tested to ensure that they have adequate slip coefficient properties and can be modified to increase or decrease traction. The thickness of the coating can be adjusted depending on the building owner’s needs. The polyaspartic floor coatings are safe and easy to maintain with environmentally-friendly pH-neutral cleaning products.
HP Spartacote’s polyaspartic coatings can be applied in one or more coats using a brush, roller, squeegee, or broom. A polyaspartic coating dries in as little as two hours, compared to the eight to 12 hours required with epoxy. This reduces the amount of waiting time and means that the home or business owner can use the floor sooner after application than would be possible with an epoxy coating.
One potential drawback is that, unlike epoxy, HP Spartacote’s polyaspartic coatings do not self-level. This means a little more work for the installers, but the amount of time required is still less than what would be needed with an epoxy coating.
Polyaspartic coatings can be used in cold temperatures that would prevent the use of epoxy. This extends the season in which we can treat a concrete floor and enables us to take on projects year-round.
