Joe asked if we could transform his pitted, flaky painted basement floor into a polished concrete floor with exposed aggregate.
The floor was covered with old paint, dirt and oil and was pitted and flaking in places. this is not uncommon for an old basement. It should be noted that when you start to grind and polish the floor you never really know what you will find or how even it will be.
We started grinding and found the concrete to be very soft. Unusual for this area.
After the initial course grind we coated the floor with a Lithium densifier. This hardens the surface of the concrete to permit a better polish process.
After grinding and polishing with progressively finer disks the ended up with an attractive floor with exposed aggregate and some interesting character.
The floor was then sealed and wax polished.
