‘Venetian Plaster’ Style Floors
The ‘Venetian Plaster’ style floor is one of our favorites. We love doing them and they always look totally unique, individual and stylish.
Our Process
First of all we will grind the concrete floor with a mechanical grinder. This will remove all of the impurities such as paint, oils, grease, dirt etc. and leave the floor lightly abraded and smooth.
We then apply three thin coats of a cement product called Ardex SD-M. We can color the cement and apply all three coats in one color or vary the tones of each layer to provide some contrast. Because the material is applied with a steel trowel by hand we will get some clatter and trowel marks. It also creates a light texture to the floor.
When the final coating is dry we lightly sand the floor and apply two coats of a water based epoxy. This will leave the floor with a satin sheen. It will be water and stain resistant but will still allow the concrete to breathe.
