Polished Concrete Basement Floor – Rye Brook

  • polished concrete basement floor in rye brook new york

Our client wanted his concrete basement floor completely polished and sealed. We inspected the location and found that the 50 year old, 2,000 sf floor was covered in carpet glue, old paint and every other kind of adhesive. We set our Werkmaster Titan to work with some 40 grit metal diamond tooling. Spraying the carpet glue with a fine mist or water softened it a little and kept the dust down

After a day of course grinding we switched to our 80 grit metal diamond tools and then went through the various stages to 800 grit resin pads. During the process we densified the floor twice with Trinic Lithium Densifier.

The client had requested that we cut a tile pattern into the floor using an Engrave – A – Crete cutting tool. The started by cutting a perimeter line 18″ from the walls and then a 5′ square pattern on the diagonal. Rather than using a chalk line we position a laser and follow the laser line along the floor. This is quick, easy and very accurate. Plus, no chalk mess!

To seal the floor we used Trinic NanoSeal diluted 25% with water. A total of 4 coats.
